Actually these type of signals has been installed for while in Lima, Peru and Santiago, Chile. Some places in Peru, even got rid of yellow period. Contrary to common belief, dilemma caused by amber period is responsible almost half of crashes at signalized intersections. Irony is Peru consulted with one of the Columbia university professor and implemented the right away. They also have red countdown for both vehicles and pedestrians. Their safety reduction was a stunning success. If you are interested, I can share a lot of pictures on their traffic signal systems taken during my vacation tours.
very nice and interesting and I also want to know more about this further. thanks.
