Minneapolis biking According to Bicycling magazine, Minneapolis has displaced Portland, OR as the most bike friendly city in America.  Here's a summary from the article:  "1.  Minneapolis, MN – Despite the cold wintertime climate, Minneapolis has a thriving bike community.  It has 120 miles of on- and off-street bicycle facilities, plus indoor bike parking and other cycling-friendly facilities."

I've worked on several Travel Demand Management Plans in Minneapolis.  Bike racks are always required as part of the plan (often bike lockers and shower facilities are required for large employers).  That policy is apparently paying off.  One of the big factors in Minneapolis' number one ranking is the city has nearly doubled the percentage of bicycle commuters over the last three years.
