Lucille is a close family friend who downsized from her home on Mackey Avenue where she lived for more than sixty years.  She recently told my wife Jane that she was going to the local historical society to buy a “Mackey Avenue” sign as a memento.

I dug into Lucille’s story and it’s the perfect complement to Operation Sign Harvest.  The City of St. Louis Park gave a bunch of old street signs to the local historical society and the historical society is now selling them for $25 each as a fundraiser.  You can read about purchasing a street sign on the St. Louis Park Historical Society website.

Selling your old street signs (or giving them to a local non-profit to sell) instead of just scrapping them is a great way to tap into the Reduce/Reuse/Recycle movement.
