Check out the video on the automated parking system. It looks like Wohr has implemented several of these systems. Amazing technology. I wonder how much a site has to be worth to justify the cost of a system like this.

These have been discussed in New York City for the past few years. From what I recall it’s only economical if you are building in a very dense city where property values are very high. With the “shell” existing whether below or above grade, the system was something around $80,000 per space. The way to get the most value out of it was to design the envelope from scratch to maximize efficiency and increase cars/sf. It certainly is more air friendly as the car engine is always off inside the garage.
