We were curious about what our colleagues expect to happen this year in the traffic counting industry, so we polled our network and received 149 responses.  Following are the key results:


Here’s a breakdown of the types of counts the respondents expect to do in 2022:

  • 42% are intersection turning movement counts and 58% are point counts
  • Of the point counts, 25% have only daily traffic volume data while 75% have directional, hourly volume data
  • 32% of the point counts include 13 classification data
  • 29% of the point counts include speed data
